About Me

I am a wife to the most wonderful man who I love dearly.

I'm blessed to be a stay at home mom of two precious little girls, Boog (3 years old going on 15) and Bear (2 years old).  They really keep me busy, but I am so grateful that God chose me to be their mommy.

I was born the 3rd of three girls.  I was the baby and I was always dubbed the "creative one".  My days were spent doing all things crafty.  I liked to make a mess :o)

My love of decorating, crafting, and other what-nots came when I was young.  Yes, I still have the first thing that I ever laid spray paint on (in preschool with the help of teachers of course :o)

I also still have the first trash-to-treasure project I ever did.  I stopped by a yard sale and picked up 2 lamps and brought them home and spray painted them with stone spray paint... (yeah, I was that cool in high school.)

I marched in the band, I took honors courses, and
I was the only girl to take Integrated Manufacturing Technology.  I enjoyed that class to pieces and decided I wanted to go to Georgia Tech and major in Aerospace Engineering where I could work with much bigger things... I got in!  I graduated in the top 5 in my class, but somehow ended up at University of Georgia majoring in Early Childhood Education.  I think it had something to do with wanting to be a stay at home mom and a certain boy who did, in fact, become my husband... but kids... do as I say not as I do... don't make life altering decisions over a boy :o)

I graduated December 15, 2006 and walked down the aisle December 16, 2006.

Just a short year later, we had our first daughter.

I finished out the school year and then started my career as a full time mom and DIYer.  When I quit work, my husband had only a part time job and was in school full time at Liberty University.  We did it on faith.  It wasn't even a choice for us. We moved into the house described in this post and were amazed as we watched God provide for our every need.  A month later, we found out we were having another baby.  At this point we were PO--  yeah, we couldn't even afford the O and the R.  We were just PO.  But it was a good time, no, a great time in our lives.  DIY became somewhat of a necessity and using the cheap paint wasn't cheap enough.  I learned a lot about thriftiness and swallowing your pride. But we were happy!

Hubby the Great graduated college and then went back to the only job he ever loved to do and became the greatest pizza man ever!  I am so proud to call him my husband! He worked his was up to manager in just 18 months and we were immediately able to buy a house (still not sure how all that happened, we were really in no place to buy a home, but it did and we are truly grateful!)

Since we have moved in, I have come to the conclusion that I am good enough at a lot of things.

I'm good enough at photography.

I'm good enough at sewing.

I'm good enough at crafting.

I'm good enough at cooking (ok this is a stretch). It's actually just a list of things that Hubby the Great was making for Super Bowl Sunday. My picture would have been of cheese toast :)

I'm good enough at making cakes.

I'm good enough at decorating. I'm good enough at writing (I'm hoping anyway). I can paint a wall.

But I am EXCELLENT at nothing.

And now I am blogging.  What do I want to blog about? I want to blog about all the things I enjoy... all of the things that I do so I don't go crazy staying at home all day. And all of the things that I have fallen in love with even if I'm not awesome at it.

I'm learning and growing and maybe one day I'll find a niche that I fit into. Until then, Creative Outlets is my story to tell.

Thanks for taking the time to learn about me :o)

  2. Katie,
What a wonderful story! Not many people can say that they are so in love with their life and family.
Now I see that you are in Georgia? I live in Kennesaw, right next to KSU. My daughter is in Grad school at Georgia State after getting her undergrad at KSU.

    All the best,
