If you have been reading my blog for any time at all, you will know that I am just starting to wrap up my master bathroom redo!
It's ALMOST done... 1 more small project and I am DONE!
This particular part of the Master Bath (there are 3 rooms...dumb, I know) has only a small sink/vanity, so counter space is a little valuable. I have seen a few different mason jar projects out there, so I figured I would combine it all into one project and save some counter space.
And this does stick with my free-to-me month :o)
I rolled with 2 different ideas here. Have you seen Not Just a Housewife's Mason Jar Wall Planter?
and the many Mason Jar Soap dispensers out there.
Yeah, see the similarities?
I started with a scrap piece of wood and 3 metal pipe clamps (I think these things are about a buck.)
I undid the ring and placed the pipe clamp where I wanted it to go (I started with the middle one in the center because that was easiest) and used a metal drill bit to put a small hole through the clamp.
Then using a 3/4 inch wood screw, I screwed the pipe clamp to the wood.
Repeat the process with all 3 pipe clamps.
Now to the mason jars... 2 of them remained untouched.
For the 3rd one, I used the same metal drill bit that I used to drill through the pipe clamps. I created a bunch of tiny holes in a circle that was the width as the inner ring of my soap dispenser pump. (The pump came from an old rusty soap dispenser that I wasn't using anymore) Once I had all the holes drilled, I was able to very easily knock through it with a screwdriver until my pump fit nicely inside. As you can see, it's not a perfectly clean job... but you can't see this anyway!
I screwed the board into drywall anchors on the wall (if you can find studs it would be even better!) I left the screws visible because I liked the look of it. The silver just adds a little flair to the otherwise white space.
I hung it just to the right of the sink so that everything is easy to access.
The soap dispenser is my favorite part.
This was a very practical solution for us that even turned out to be cute!
I'm on the lookout for some vintage mason jars to clamp in here instead, I think they would look even more fabulous. The beauty of the pipe clamps is that they are really easy to change out!
I think I need another one of these for the guest bathroom with 2 pumps. One with soap and one with lotion :o)
UPDATE: If you would like to see the completed master bathroom... you can find that Here!
Hope you had a fabulous Halloween yesterday! B.I.G. things to share in the next few days (my orange minibar is gone!!)
